Closed beta for WoW Classic has returned ..."> Closed beta for WoW Classic has returned until the August 16th. The level cap has been increased to 45, and you can start characters at level 40. They want to check on the existing bugfixes, and to look for additional bugs. Testers can try out the game in Stranglethorn Vale, Swamp of Sorrows, Dustwallow Marsh and Desolcae." />
"We’ve been closely following the community discussion around this add-on for WoW Classic, as well as analyzing it to make sure we understand how it works. After careful examination, we believe the nature of ClassicLFG is incompatible with our social design for Classic. Thus, in an upcoming patch (in the weeks following launch), we will be adding restrictions to the Classic add-on API that will significantly limit this add-on and others like it.
In line with what we shared at BlizzCon last year, we intend to be very careful about allowing add-on functionality that might undermine aspects of the social dynamics that are core to the Classic experience, even in cases like this where it’s clear that the addon author had no ill intent and was simply trying to provide a service to the Classic community. Ultimately, if a streamlined group-finding system was something we considered compatible with Classic, we would have kept the modern Premade Group Finder tool rather than choosing to remove it from the Classic client.
It’s difficult to articulate a clear-cut rule for exactly when an add-on crosses the line. However, when an add-on goes beyond presenting information or providing aesthetic customization, and attempts to create an interconnected social network that relies on other players also using that same add-on, we are likely to scrutinize it particularly closely."
26 August 2019 10:00 , we will remove the limitation on only creating a total of three WoW Classic characters per WoW account. Thereafter, players will be able to create up to 10 characters per Classic realm, for a total of 50 characters across all Classic realms per WoW account.
Additionally, at 26 August 2019 10:00 , we will open the following new realms in this region:
Flamelash / PvP / English
Gandling / PvP / English
Mograine / PvP / English
Nethergarde Keep / Normal / English
Razorgore / PvP / English
At this time, all realms that have a Full or High population tag are expected to experience extended queues. We urge players on realms marked Full or High to plan to play on one of these new realms to avoid the longest queues, and to help spread the player population as evenly as possible and provide the best play experience for everyone.
"Thanks to your help testing WoW Classic, we’ve fixed many additional reported bugs since the Beta ended last month. To really ensure that these fixes are all functioning as expected and prepare the smoothest possible launch in two weeks, we’ve just re-opened our closed beta realms for additional testing of WoW Classic.
All testers who previously had access to the closed beta are now able to log into those realms. Characters that were previously created on the beta test realms were removed, and level 40-character templates are now available. The level cap has been increased to 45. Characters in this range will find level-appropriate quests to explore in zones such as Stranglethorn Vale, Swamp of Sorrows, Dustwallow Marsh, and Desolace.
As before, please use the in-game Bug Report button to submit issues encountered while testing. If you need more text space to explain an issue you encountered, please take it to our WoW Classic Support and Bug Report forum 294, which is now open for new threads.
This final closed beta test will end on Friday, August 16.
Thanks in advance to everyone who jumps in to test WoW Classic and help us prepare for its worldwide release on August 26 at 3:00 p.m. PDT!"
Starting at 00:01 CEST on Tuesday 13th August, players with an active subscription or game time on their World of Warcraft account can reserve their character names by creating up to three Classic characters. Please note that all of your characters on a PvP realm must be the same faction.
Before creating a character, you’ll choose the realm where you want to play that character. The following realms will be available:
Relative realm population will be visible in-game to help in choosing a realm so you will see Low, Medium, or High in the realm selection screen. If there are high numbers of players congregating on individual realms during name reservation and character creation, we will post warnings about the potential for queues on those realms, giving you time to choose alternate realms. WoW Classic releases worldwide on Tuesday 27th August at 00:01 CEST.
"We’ve heard your requests and want to let you know that we will be adding an RP-PVP realm in North America for WoW Classic. The comments, feedback, and passion from so many of you about this ruleset has been truly inspiring, and we’re happy to make RP-PVP available for you!
Realm information (names, rulesets, and time zones) will be posted before the weekend so you can make plans with your friends and get ready to reserve your name on your preferred realm(s) on."
Update: There are two more realms opened up in EU. If you are stuck in a queue you may want to try one of those.
Our global pre-launch test of WoW Classic will begin on Thursday, 8 August at 20:00 CEST and is scheduled to end on Friday, August 9. This test will be available to all World of Warcraft players with a current subscription or active game time in all regions. The maximum character level will be 15.
We ask that players please log-in and play as much as possible during the first two hours of the test – 20:00 CEST to 22:00 CEST, as that is when we’ll be actively monitoring for issues important to launch.
WoW Classic is now ready for all players to install from the Blizzard Battle.net 503Desktop App in advance of the test. To install WoW Classic:
Open the Blizzard Battle.net 503 Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the game selection menu on the left.
Under the Version dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second dropdown for Account. In that column, select the active account to associate with your WoW Classic install.
Click the Install button. You’ll see an installation progress bar that will show you when the installation is complete.
We’ve finalized the minimum specifications required to play WoW Classic on PC or Mac. Please note that these are much lower than the minimum specs required to play Battle for Azeroth. Recommended specs are the same for both.
In our hardware testing, we found that we were able to successfully run WoW Classic on systems manufactured and released in the 2007-2009 timeframe, and thanks to improvements in how we build and distribute game data, the hard drive space requirements are actually smaller than they were in version 1.12 of original WoW.
We’ll see you in Azeroth on Thursday, 8 August at 20:00 CEST!
